Mrs. Shelly Abernathy
My name is Shelly Abernathy. My husband, Kelly, and I have been married since 1996. We have two amazing children (Stuart and Kiley) and a wonderful daughter in law (Mackenzie). I have been teaching since 1996. I began at Emerson Elementary where I taught for 10 years. Then I moved to Clear Creek. After teaching here for 8 years, I moved to my current position as a gifted resource teacher. I travel between Clear Creek and Hamilton Crossing. I teach Kindergarten through 5th grade, and I LOVE it. My college experiences are from Reinhardt, Berry, Kennesaw, and Piedmont. I hold a Specialists Degree with a gifted and science endorsement add on. To get to know me better, I’ll share some of my faves. My favorite subject while I was in school was math. Now, I prefer reading. I absolutely love to read and I prefer reading over watching TV. Yellow is my favorite color. It’s just happy and cheerful. You will find me wearing red and black to cheer on the Dawgs! Spring and Fall are my favorite seasons. I can not stand to be cold; therefore, Winter I can do without. I am an avid food lover. This family loves to eat. My most favorite restaurant is Alamo in Pigeon Forge, TN. When I can’t have that I’ll take Mexican, LongHorn, Red Lobster, Buffaloes, and any southern comfort food. (See, we love to eat!) My favorite drink is Cherry Dr. Pepper and my coffee must have Almond Joy Creamer. My husband and I love camping. We prefer the mountains and a lake over the beach. Fishing is one of our favorite things to do together. My family and my church are so important to me. You’ll find me talking about them more than anything else. Thank you for getting to know me better. Stop by and say “hi”!
